Fingerless Gloves Pattern

Free Knitting Pattern Fingerless Gloves

  

This pattern is for a very simple style of fingerless gloves or wrist warmers. The gloves are knitted in a soft four-ply yarn.  I knitted mine in soft black angora.  The glove here is for a woman’s hand.  You can vary the size of the gloves and so make them for children or men by adding or subtracting the number of stitches. You will need to ensure that the total number of stitches in your pattern is a multiple of four, in order to make the pattern work.

MATERIALS

35 grams 4-ply yarn

4 double pointed knitting needles, size 3.25mm

TENSION

20 stitches to five centimetres measured over the pattern

INSTRUCTIONS

Start at the wrist end of the glove: Cast on 48 stitches on work in the round, using double pointed needles in pattern of k2, p2 for 8 cm, ending over the same place you started.

Make the opening for the thumb:  Turn and knit in one direction, still using the four double pointed needles.  Work in pattern, turning at the end of each row for 6 cm.

Continue to work in pattern, but now work round the glove, completing the circle. Work in pattern for 3 cm, ending over the same place you started. Work should now measure 17 cm from beginning.

Change to knit, and work five rounds of garter stitch. Cast off in knit.  Weave the loose ends into the glove.

Repeat for second glove.
