Culture for You

Happy New Year!

I often start the new year by unsubscribing from as many of the email newsletters I have subscribed to as I can.  You know how they accumulate over months and it’s easy to be overwhelmed with them too, so it’s good to clear the decks for the coming year and unsub from newsletters that I am no longer interested in.

But this year was a bit different for me. I actually started the year by subscribing to an online journal. It’s a weekly newsletter containing seven lessons on various aspects of culture:

  1. Classical music
  2. Historical figure
  3. Painting
  4. Architectural masterpiece
  5. Rhetoric
  6. Writing
  7. The seventh plinth.

The newsletter is called Areopagus and the teacher is the Cultural Tutor.  The style is friendly, informative, and easy to read. And it’s free at the moment too, which is lovely.  Have a look for yourself and see what you think: https://culturaltutor.com/areopagus

It might suit you and enrich your life. If you have older homeschooled children you will definitely want to share it with them. I like the newsletter so much that I don’t like to skim through it on my phone or laptop, I like to print it and then settle down with a cup of tea to read it. It’s a bit old fashioned, but I enjoy sitting comfortably with the paper newsletter in  my hand.

Who knows, you might be start the year like me, and sign up for a weekly newsletter instead of unsubscribing from one. And if you do subscribe, please write and let me know, tell me what you think of it and what your favourite parts are. stephanie at my red post box dot com.
