Self Education

I have been reading some of Charlotte Mason’s work again recently – I enjoy the depth of thought she displays in her writings.

During this week I came across this quotation  and I thought I would share it with you. I hope you are encouraged by it as I was.

“Therefore, teaching, talk and tale, however lucid or fascinating, effect nothing until self-activity be set up; that is, self-education is the only possible education; the rest is mere veneer laid on the surface of a child’s nature.” Charlotte Mason

It’s all about self education. We know this deep down, don’t we? We all learn when we dig for the information, when we make it our own.  Don’t forget to allow your child to ‘dig for information’.
